The McMillan Family

B75_2328-Edit-3

Oh this sweet family!!!  I am SO behind on our blog posts!!  We were so busy back in November when I did their session I just realized I never posted their session on the blog or on our facebook page!!!  I’m finally getting time to take a breather!  We are working on updating all the images in our galleries on our website…yes it’s quite sad I have a 7 month old and the image on my website of me is still a maternity picture!   Anywho…  I LOVED how these turned out so I just had to share them with you albeit 2 months later!

I met Lisa when she was working with my sister in law… at a birthday party for my niece… She had this gorgeous baby boy then and I was just waiting for the day I could get him in front of my camera… He was shy at first and wasn’t too sure of this crazy woman acting like a fool or her big camera…however…with a little bribery and a little bit of playing around and he was perfect!

How gorgeous is this sweet boy?!?

I LOVE when a beautiful family, beautiful lighting, and a beautiful location all comes together… It’s my favorite!  I promise promise this year to stay more up on posting when I have sessions on our blog and on our facebook page!!

Updates in the world of Smitho Photo-A glimpse into our lives!

This will be long… but it’s long overdue!  When you hire Smitho Photo you are hiring a husband and wife team!  By reading our about page (because I’m sure you’ve combed every inch of our awesome website), you would learn that Adam and I have a daughter Lexi who is 6.  What you may not learn because I desperately need to update it like every other part of the website, is last October we announced we’d be adding a new addition to our family.

After what seemed like forever, I learned what the true meaning of anxiety was.  Taking my 9 month pregnant self and putting it in front of my own camera was a scary experience!  I’ve always struggled with my weight and been super self conscious.  But this was our last baby and I wanted to remember myself just as I was…

After a difficult pregnancy riddled  with doctors upon  doctors, gestational diabetes, insulin injections, and numerous ultrasounds our sweet precious Landon James was born July 2nd weighing in at 8lbs 9oz.

Our family was now complete!

I had a c-section so after a week of the hospital, after a few days home I was determined to take Landon’s newborn pictures myself.  I’m still not quite sure what I was thinking.  My sweet boy gave me a run for my money!  But in the end Mommy won!  Adam plays guitar.  The guitar in these photos are actually his Papa’s guitar who we named Landon after.  My prayer was that he didn’t pee on this precious one of a kind heirloom!  He humored mommy and refrained!

During the transition to a family of 4, Lexi somehow grew up overnight.  She all of a sudden seemed maturer and lost both of her front teeth.  It was also time for Landon’s 3 month pictures.  So what happens when there’s milestones happening and your mommy is a photographer… well you document them!

And in closing… Since it’s now November of course we had to throw Halloween in the mix.  We have a few HUGE Star Wars fans in our house…yes we already have our tickets purchased and in hand for the new movie!  Lexi wanted to be Princess Leia… well you would think with anything and everything branded Star Wars these days that would be an easy task!  Not so much…   So Grandma came to our rescue with making her incredibly awesome Princess Leia costume.   Mommy and Daddy made the belt and we had to settle for a light Saber b/c a blaster was no where to be found!  We also couldn’t find an infant Ewok costume!  Imagine the horror!  How could they not have an Ewok costume for a 3 month old!?!  It is absolutely necessary!  I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything cuter!  If you don’t know what Ewoks are you need to look them up!  I want Wickett to come live at my house!

So if you’ve made it this far in this incredibly long blog post I’m impressed!  You see when you choose Smitho Photo.  You’re not jsut choosing a husband and wife team. You are choosing a family.  You are helping pay for dance lessons and tball for our sweet girl.  You are paying for diapers and eventually sports for our little boy.  You are helping support our small family.  That’s why your continued support and business means so much to us.  That’s why your referral to you coworkers and friends means so much to us.  Because to us this is personal.

I will leave you with our sweet Ewok and Princess Leia herself!

Zach and Tori

I met Zach and his family many moons ago when we were attending church together.  I was his youth leader and knew then that he was a special young man.  He didn’t prove me wrong either as now he is a pastor (Man do I feel old!!)  It wasn’t until very recently that I met his bride to be Tori.  She is as sweet as they come.  It was such a complete honor and pleasure to capture these memories for them.  Out of the hundreds of sessions I’ve done over the last few years, these are by far some of my absolute favorites!  If you follow our facebook page which you can do here you probably have already seen a lot of these images.  However, it’s my goal to update the website and blog more often for those who don’t see our fb posts.  Besides who doesn’t love seeing a sweet, young, in love, gorgeous couple more than once!

A75_8577-EditI  had a fellow photographer ask me when I posted their sneak peek how did you get them to act so in love.  I simply didn’t… I didn’t have to tell them much of anything.  They just are exactly as you see.

When we were first talking about locations for their session, I mentioned the castle ruins just past Myrtle Beach, partly because I’m dying to do a session there… but Tori asked me could we do it on her family’s property.  They told me it was a rustic setting with some woods and a barn… Let me just tell you how pleasantly surprised I was to see the location of these pictures.  It was absolutely perfect! There is no wonder this is where she wanted them taken!

This bridge… and this light… it didn’t last long but was so pretty haha… Because of the shading of the trees we ran out of daylight earlier than expected and had to postpone the rest of the shoot until the next day…

B75_8211-Edit B75_8153-Edit B75_8209B75_8165-EditB75_8183-Edit-2 So as we headed to meet them the next day the bottom fell out and I just knew it was going to be a bust but we went anyways… we got there and the clouds cleared just in time for us to finish.  A75_8605  B75_8258-Edit-3 B75_8272 A75_8561-EditCongratulations Zach and Tori on your engagement!  You two are perfect together!

Daniel and Taylor are ENGAGED!

We were contacted by Daniel a while back to schedule a session.  When I started asking him details about the session I started to get super excited.  They were coming to the beach to celebrate Taylor’s birthday.  As part of her birthday gift he wanted to have pictures made of them.  What she didn’t know was he had a lot more planned than just having a few pictures made.  He planned on proposing and wanted us to capture the whole thing.  So we devised a cue that he would use to know when it was time… and everything went just as planned.  It was perfect and she was SO surprised!  It was obvious how in love the two of them were and we were so honored to be there for their special moment!  We shared a few pictures on our fb page at Daniel’s request the same day as the engagement so that he could share with their family and friends. Here are those along with a few more from that afternoon!

Happy New Year

Happy New Year! We hope that each of you had a fabulous Christmas! One of my many new years resolutions is to keep our blog more up to date! I apologize we have stayed behind on it!  Blogging is new to us, and I’m hoping that you’ll bear with us as we learn what we’re doing!

January marks one year that we’ve been in business.  We have been so abundantly blessed by our customers over the past year.  On facebook I did a year in review with pictures. It was so exciting to go back to some of our favorite moments throughout the year.  You can view that post here.

2014 was full of great memories and I am excited to see what lies ahead in 2015!  It will be an exciting time in the Smith House!  In case you missed it we had a big announcement I made back in November.

We will be adding a new addition to our family in July!  We are super excited and can’t wait for our newest blessing.  This will not affect my ability to schedule sessions so please do not let this stop you from getting on our calendar!

Christmas was super busy in the studio with lots of little ones coming through!  Here are a few of our favorites from those sessions!

The week of Christmas we had the opportunity to photograph a returning customer.  I had the pleasure of photographing Bonnie and Paul’s wedding back in July.  If you missed that post, click here to see images from their beautiful day!  Bonnie’s family hadn’t been able to have everyone together in many years and they wanted pictures to celebrate their reunion!  The only time that everyone could get together was 1pm and all pictures were done at the beach house they were staying at and over on the beach at Cherry Grove.  I was a nervous wreck to say the least as I knew the sun would be an evil beast to contend with.  It was a beautiful SUNNY day with gorgeous weather and despite the sun glaring from above we were able to capture some great shots of this beautiful family!

We have a sweet squishy newborn coming to the studio soon!  So stay tuned for pictures from her session!

Also…. our local newspaper the Brunswick Beacon is doing a Best in Brunswick County contest!  Will you take a few moments and complete the survey and vote for us as best photographer in Brunswick County!  If you fill out 50% of the survey you will be eligible for $200!   You can go to the survey here!

Meet Baby Harrison

Meet Harrison, just 12 days new! Remember the beautiful mommy we met just 13 days ago?  Less than 24 hours from when we took her maternity pictures Mr. Harrison made his debut! His big brother and gorgeous mommy may have jumped in for one or two of the pictures. (And a side note, I’m pretty sure I have the most awesome father in law ever for making this boat for me!!)

Marissa’s Senior Portraits

We’re going to do something we don’t normally do… This beautiful girl is Adam’s cousin. We were going to upload her gallery to our private page, but then figured we’d just share them all with you 🙂 Not all of her black and white pictures are being shared. With any session we do, we usually offer b&w as well as color finishes on each image. Some of these you have already seen in a sneak Peek that we did the day we did the shoot. Hope everyone is enjoying their week! Seniors, there is still time to schedule your senior pictures with us!
